At its meeting on 9–13 March 2026, the Scientific and Economic Commission (CSE) approved the Third Position Paper on Biosimilars, a step that consolidates the path already undertaken by the Italian Medicines Agency (AIFA) in promoting the appropriate use of biosimilar medicines, recognising their decisive role in expanding access to therapies and in the proper management of National Health Service resources. The review incorporates the latest developments in regulatory practice, drawing on scientific evidence, experience gained in clinical practice and the regulatory framework governing the use of biosimilars within the European context.

To explain the contents of the new version and facilitate direct discussion with stakeholders, the Agency is organising a webinar scheduled for 9 April 2026 from 10.30 am to 1.30 pm, to be held remotely with a maximum of two participants per Patient Association or Scientific Society.
