The Italian Medicines Agency continues on its path of digitalisation, started in 2018, by migrating all its information assets and systems to the Polo Strategico Nazionale, as part of the Strategia Cloud Italia, using the RRP funds dedicated to the central public administrations for migration exclusively to PSN.
The agreement, signed on 15 December 2023 with the signing of the membership contract between AIFA’s Interim Director General, Anna Rosa Marra, and the Chief Executive Officer of the Polo Strategico Nazionale, Emanuele Iannetti, was formalised on the basis of common interests linked to their respective institutional purposes, towards the digital transformation of the country.
AIFA has identified the Polo Strategico Nazionale as a significant partner to develop the technological infrastructure of the near future, further developing the extensive program of digitisation and security of its data and services, in which it is already currently engaged.

“Our membership to the Polo Strategico Nazionale is a decisive choice confirming the strategy of the digital transformation process already underway for the entire AIFA information and application systems - so AIFA’s Chairman of the BoD Giorgio Palù - The migration to PSN and our future work, is and will be fundamental to accelerate and facilitate the management of the national pharmaceutical system, scientific research while also representing, in a broader vision, a further step towards innovation of the country as a whole”.

The plan envisages the migration of 63 services, including AIFA’s Institutional Portal as well as re-platform and re-architect actions of the applications, allowing an upgrade and greater interoperability of health and scientific data, which the agency uses on a daily basis.
The Polo Strategico Nazionale, certified at the highest levels for cloud infrastructure and services, guarantees protection, cyber resilience, independence, reliability and innovation, making available to the agency its know-how, supporting it throughout the project, so confirming as the main enabler of the digital transformation of public administrations.
The collaboration between AIFA and Polo Strategico Nazionale represents a significant step towards a digitally advanced and interoperable future for the Italian public sector.
