The World Antibiotic Use Awareness Week is promoted by the World Health Organisation (18-24 November 2024) and it kicked off on Monday 18 November. The 2024 theme is ‘Educate. Advocate. Act Now'.

Part of the WHO Week is the celebration of the European Antibiotic Awareness Day, coordinated by the European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC).

Both initiatives aim to raise awareness on the relevance of the antibiotic resistance phenomenon and encourage the best medical practices at all levels (civil society, health professionals and policy makers) against the spread of drug-resistant infections.
