On the occasion of the World AMR Awareness Week called by the World Health Organisation (18-24 November 2023), the Italian Medicines Agency is promoting, together with the Ministry of Health, a communication campaign to raise awareness on the issue of antibiotic resistance and to encourage the correct use of these medicines.

The message of the campaign is “Use antibiotics consciously and always according to your doctor's prescriptions. If you take antibiotics incorrectly, you put your health at risk and contribute to the development of bacteria that are resistant to treatment."

The initiative - which makes use of the participation of Francesca Fagnani, as testimonial - was presented during an event that will take place at the Ministry of Health, at the Lungotevere Ripa headquarters, and in live streaming starting from 10 am. The Minister of Health, Orazio Schillaci, will open the event.

The meeting - which was attended by the President of the Board of Directors Giorgio Palù and the Deputy Director General Anna Rosa Marra on behalf of AIFA - was an opportunity to take stock of the situation in Italy and the actions envisaged by the National Plan to combat AMR (PNCAR 2022-2025).

Welcoming the WHO's invitation, for the World AMR Awareness Week the AIFA headquarters in via del Tritone 181 will light up in blue and the Campaign's message will be projected on the façade.
